BeforeAfter

How does the GALAXY LASER rejuvenate my skin?

The Galaxy/Aurora uses gentle light and electric energies to restore skin to a more youthful state.  Brown spots (pigmented imperfections) from sun damage and aging, red blotchiness from spider vessels or rosacea (vascular imperfections), and rough skin texture will improve over a treatment series.

Is treatment safe?

Treatment is very safe for the skin.  There are many advances in the Galaxy/Aurora technology that make it unparalleled for skin safety, without compromising effectiveness for treatment. There are no long term health hazards from light or electric energies used in the Galaxy/Aurora.  Both have been used for decades in medicine, surgery, and aesthetics without adversity.

What kind of results can I expect?

Each Galaxy/Aurora treatment will result in gradual lightening and improvement of pigmented and vascular imperfections.  Textural improvements are appreciated towards the end of the treatment series.

How frequently do I need treatments?

Treatments are repeated every month for a total of 5 treatments.

Does the treatment hurt?

The sensation is often described as “hot pinch”, or “snapping” feeling.  The sensation only lasts for fraction of a second, and you may feel warmth or tingling sensation for a short time afterward.  Most people tolerate treatment without topical anesthetic, but individuals who are more sensitive may prefer to have the skin numbed before treatment.

What happens after each treatment?

Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment.  The improvement in pigmented and vascular irregularities can often be appreciated by the time you return for your next treatment a month later.  Brown spots temporarily go darker before they lighten.

Who should get LASER skin treatment?

Anyone who wants to improve the signs of sun damage and aging in the skin, such as pigmented and vascular irregularities, uneven or rough skin texture.  Skin treatment can be done on face, neck, chest, hands, arms.  Discuss your candidacy for this treatment with your Galaxy/Aurora clinician.

Wrinkle Reduction (WR)

How does WR work?

WR/elos (electro-optical synergy) uses a unique combination of radio frequency and light to isolate the treatment area and leave the surrounding skin free from potentially harmful side effects. Using gentle pulses of two targeted energies means better results with lower overall energy output – assuring the highest level of safety and comfort.  Other systems using only one energy source can’t compare.

The Aurora and Galaxy systems use the exclusive elos technology for hair removal and skin rejuvenation treatments. The Polaris systems feature treatment options for wrinkles and leg vein/vascular conditions.

What does WR feel like?

Treatment with elos produces a slight tingling feeling, and on the most sensitive areas of the skin, patients may only feel a quick, light pinch. Side effects are very rare.

elos Wrinkle Reduction - Polaris WR & Galaxy systems

elos (electro-optical synergy), the combined energies of Bi-Polar radio Frequency and high power Diode LASER, requires overall lower energy levels for superior results with maximum safety and comfort.

elos safely treats wrinkles. The unique Matrix Heating of the Polaris WR produces results at both the epidermal and deep dermal levels. The use of light creates higher temperatures in the epidermis while the combination of the light and RF penetrate into the deep dermis. The combination of energies treating at multiple levels makes it possible to treat fine wrinkles at the surface while penetrating into the dermis to treat deeper wrinkles – all in the same procedure.

LASER Hair Removal

How does the GALAXY LASER get rid of my hair?

The Galaxy/Aurora uses gentle light and electric energies to damage the hair follicle.  This disables the follicle from growing hair, which means that gradually over several treatments, there is a permanent reduction in the amount of hair in that area.

Is treatment safe?

Treatment is very safe for the skin.  There are many advances in the Galaxy/Aurora technology that make it one of the safest hair removal systems available for all skin colors. There are no long term health hazards from light or electric energies used in the Galaxy/Aurora.  Both have been used for decades in medicine, surgery, and aesthetics without adversity.

What kind of results can I expect?

Each Galaxy/Aurora treatment will result in less hair coming back, as well as hair growing progressively lighter in color, finer, and slower-growing with each treatment.  It takes more than 1 treatment to affect all the follicles growing in an area.  Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 4-8 treatments, but individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors.  Lighter colored hair may require more treatments than darker colored hair.

How frequently do I need treatments?

The treatments are usually performed every 2-3 months, but this depends on individual factors that your Galaxy/Aurora clinician will discuss with you during consultation.

Does the treatment hurt?

The sensation is often described as “hot pinch”, or “snapping” feeling.  The sensation only lasts for fraction of a second, and you may feel warmth or tingling sensation for a short time afterward.  Most people tolerate treatment without any topical anesthetic, which numbs the skin from feeling sensation.

What happens after each treatment?

Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. The treated area will “shed” some hairs over the next 3-4 weeks, and you may experience a period of hairlessness in the area while you wait for your next treatment.

Who should get LASER treatment for Hair Removal?

Anyone who wants a permanent solution to shaving, waxing, plucking, or electrolysis.   There are a few medical conditions that contraindicate people from treatment which will be discussed with your Galaxy/Aurora clinician during consultation.

BOTOX®

Before

After

Ten minutes - a few tiny injections - and within days there's a noticeable improvement.  There's no recovery or downtime.  You can even receive a BOTOX®  treatment on your lunch break.  And results last up to four months.  Individual results may vary.

What causes frown lines between the brows?  How does BOTOX®  help?

The lines that appear between your brows actually result from muscle movement and the passage of time.

Two muscles are largely responsible for frown lines between the brows.  When those muscles contract, they draw the brows together.  As skin becomes less elastic over time, repeated frowning can result in those moderate to severe lines between your brows.

BOTOX® works by blocking nerve impulses, which reduces the movement of those muscles.  With less movement, the skin surface gradually smoothes out, and the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows begin to fade.

Just what is BOTOX®?  Is it FDA approved?

BOTOX ® is a purified protein.  It is a non-surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in patients 18 to 65 years of age.  During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines between the brows.

BOTOX ® is the only treatment of its type approved by the FDA for this use.  The treatment is minimally invasive and non-surgical.  It requires no recovery time and causes little discomfort.

We have had equal success for treatment of crows-feet (lateral eyes) and horizontal forehead lines.

What is the treatment like?

BOTOX ® is a quick and minimally invasive treatment.  Dr. Bearnson makes a few tiny injections into the muscles that cause wrinkles.

Dr. Bearnson will determine exactly where to administer the injections to achieve the best results.  No anesthesia is required, although she may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting.  The entire procedure takes approximately ten minutes.  Discomfort is minimal and brief - most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite.  You may resume normal activity immediately.

How soon will I see a difference?  What kind of results can I expect?

You can expect to see results within days after your treatment.  The appearance of the area treated may continue to improve for up to a week.

By day 30 in a patient clinical study, 89% of patients judged the severity of their frown lines as moderate or better.

Visible results can last up to four months.  After that, you may be ready to return for a follow-up treatment.

Patients with neurological disorders such as ALS, Myasthenia Gravis, or lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.  The most common side effects include headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid droop, and nausea.

Other side effects include pain and redness where the medicine is injected, pain in the face, and muscle weakness.  These effects generally occur within the first week and usually go away on their own.

Your own results may vary- be sure to talk to Dr. Bearnson about what you can expect.

How soon will I need a second treatment?  What happens if I decide not to continue?

The effect of each treatment can last up to four months - be sure to schedule your follow-up treatment in advance.

If you decide not to continue with BOTOX ® the area treated will eventually go back to its pretreatment appearance.

How does BOTOX ® compare to out options?

Compared to other aesthetic treatment options, BOTOX ® is relatively inexpensive.  According to a survey by The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, it's one of the least costly facial aesthetic procedures.  And when you consider the difference it can make in your appearance, you may find BOTOX ® to be a great way to invest in yourself.

BOTOX ®  is the only treatment of its type approved by the FDA.

How do I know if BOTOX ® is right for me?

If you are between 18 and 65, you may be a candidate for BOTOX ®.  Talk to Dr. Bearnson and find out if BOTOX ®

is right for you.

Dr Bearnson is highly skilled and achieves incredible results.  She has been administrating BOTOX ® for seven years.  Her experience makes her an excellent healthcare professional choice if you are considering BOTOX ®.

If you want to enjoy a smoother, more youthful appearance for about six months, ask Dr. Bearnson if Restylane® is right for you.

What is Restylane®?

Restylane© is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

What is Restylane® made of?

Restylane® is the first cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid.  Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin.  The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA,™ or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid.  NASHA is biodegradable and fully biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

How is Restylane® different that other hyaluronic acid-based products?

Unlike rooster-derived hyaluronic acid-based products, Restylane® is free from animal proteins.  This quality limits any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction.  Restylane® contains trace amounts of gram-positive bacterial proteins and should not be used by patients with a history of allergies to such material.  Additionally, Restylane® has the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid available in a dermal filler.

Is Restylane® safe?

Yes.  Restylane® has been used by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. Restylane® contains trace amounts of gram-positive bacterial proteins and should not be used by patients with a history of allergies to such material. After your treatment, you might have some redness or swelling.  This will normally last less than seven days.  Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappear.  If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18, you shouldn't use Restylane®.

Can Restylane® be used anywhere on the face?

Restylane® has been used in more than 1.5 million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles.  In the U.S. the FDA has approved Restylane® for wrinkles and folds like the ones from the nose to the corners of the mouth.  Dr. Bearnson will consult with you prior to your injection regarding common treatment areas.

How long does Restlyane® last?

Restylane® is proved to deliver long-lasting results.  Studies have shown that Restylane® effects generally last for about six months.  Restylane® stabilization technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone.

How often should I have Restlyane® treatments done?

Treatments are typically scheduled twice a year.  Having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated may enhance the lasting effect.

What should patients do prior to treatment?

Restylane® requires no pre-testing, but you should take a few precautions before being treated.  Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort or high doses of Vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site.  Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, discuss this with Dr. Bearnson.   She may consider prescribing a medication to minimize recurrence.

How is Restylane® different from BOTOX® Cosmetic?

Restylane® is a natural, cosmetic filler.  In contrast, Botox is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles.  Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.

How is Restylane® different from bovine collagen?

Bovine collagen is derived from animals (cows) and requires an allergy test.  Restylane® can be administered immediately - no waiting is required.

Do the injections hurt?

Restylane® is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultra-fine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort.  The procedure is simple and convenient, and results are practically instantaneous.  To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, Dr. Bearnson may anesthetize the treatment area.

Safety Information

After your treatment, you might have some redness or swelling.  This will normally last less than seven days.  Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappear.  If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18, you shouldn't use Restylane®.  For complete product and safety information, visit www.RestylaneUSA.com .

MICRODERMABRASION

Microdermabrasion or particle skin resurfacing is a non-invasive, non-surgical, procedure that uses a highly controlled spray of fine aluminum oxide crystals to remove the outer layer of skin and reveal the younger, tighter, and more radiant skin underneath.  Common treatment conditions include:

The average procedure takes less than 30 minutes, depending upon the skin condition, the area to be treated, and the desired outcome.  Patients will notice improvements in the texture and appearance of their skin immediately after the first treatment.

Dr. Bearnson can best evaluate your skin type and recommend whether you are a candidate for Microdermabrasion.    Patients who are in good general health, possess proper skin tone, and desire realistic results are excellent candidates.
